Abby's 3D Wooden Starburst Ornaments

My friend Abby works across the street -- chatting and laughing with her is one of my favorite ways to take a break from shop stuff. She's an extremely talented artist who makes frothy, ethereal installations out of vintage doilies, and also translates that delicate sensibility into wooden jewelry and decorations. In her off time, she's coaching her kids' soccer teams, baking, and playing rugby (??! she can do it all!).

I love the combination of old styles and new technology Abby uses in this work, so much so that I commissioned Abby to make a giant one out of real doilies to hang in my window for the holidays. You have to come see it - it's stunning! --Gigi
