Trapper Schoepp is a Wisconsin-based singer-songwriter known for his heartland folk sound. He first gained national attention with his band Trapper Schoepp & The Shades, including a 2013 performance on The Late Show with David Letterman, and later co-wrote the song “On, Wisconsin” with Bob Dylan after developing unused Dylan lyrics from decades earlier.
Schoepp Seeds is his creative offshoot, offering thoughtfully selected plant varieties that feel a little unexpected — bold colors, strong personalities, and blooms that stand out in the garden.
Why We Love This
Why We Love This
As an artist myself, I'm inspired by the way Trapper has translated his ethos and aesthetic into a completely new, but complementary, medium. These seed packets are such a cool way to spread both neat plants and his music! --Gigi
These groovy seed packets are a collaboration between Milwaukee-based folk singer Trapper Schoepp and Bentley Seeds, a NY-based seed supplier since 1975. Launched in accompaniment to Trapper's album "May Day," which is inspired by agricultural tradition and renewal, the seeds spread the message of Trapper's music and encourage new people to try gardening. A QR code on the back of the packet links to Trapper's music for a multimedia experience.
The Black Beauty Ozzy inspired Sunflower is an absolute stunner, striking in borders and excellent for pollinators. This sunflower blooms in rich chocolate-brown and mahogany-red shades, making it well-loved by pollinators. It is especially lovely when planted alongside its traditional yellow cousins, creating a uniquely wonderful and colorful contrast. Our deepest and richest colored sunflower variety, it features vibrant, velvety flowers with a dark chocolate center and petals in mahogany-burgundy. These sunflowers are great for cutting and are low-maintenance, making them an ideal flower for kids to try. Easy to grow, they thrive best in bright sunny spots. Growing Instructions: Press seeds 1/2 inch deep into loose soil and plant seeds about 12 inches apart. Water and enjoy! Bloom season: Mid-Summer. Plants grow 6-8 feet tall and have long flower stems, making this variety perfect for cut flowers. Seed Information: Lifecycle: Annual Bloom Season: Mid-Summer Sun Requirement: Full sun Seeds Per Packet: 164
