Meet the Human
Meet the Human
Therese Kuempel is a Lake Geneva-based jewelry artist who makes each piece by hand in her studio using traditional metalsmithing and wax casting techniques. We both came up through the same creative trenches as SAIC art school alums, and I really admire how she translates playful ideas into forms that feel elegant and refined.
Her work is rooted in craft and material understanding, and it shows in the way the surfaces catch light and hold texture.
Why We Love This
Why We Love This
There’s something about the slightly imperfect, handmade surfaces of Therese's work that makes the pieces feel alive. They’re graphic and sculptural without being heavy or overly serious. --Gigi
A hand-cast snake that winds its way down in one fluid line, finished with a single round stone at the top. The surface has that softly imperfect texture you only get from real wax casting, a near-lost art that Therese is helping keep alive.
It hangs at just the right length to sit on its own, but layers beautifully if you’re feeling more maximal.

*NuGold, also called Jeweler's Brass, is a solid metal alloy of copper and zinc. It looks very similar to 14k gold, with a more pale and warm tone than regular brass. NuGold will tarnish over time when exposed to oxygen, but a quick polish will shine it right back up! I use Sunshine polishing cloths.
