In March 2025, Stephen Joos took his decades of experience in corporate product development and launched his own creative statement: WESTLANDS, a fragrance line inspired by exploration, travel, and memory. I'm lucky that he and his partner have become friends of mine - our businesses are the same age, and it's great to have someone to share the trials & tribulations with!

I'm so dazzled by this line of fragrances from local Madison perfumer Stephen - he's deeply considered every aspect of the product in a way that feels rare and invigorating. The scents are unusual, transporting, and super long-lasting thanks to their high concentration of scent (eau de parfums are the best!). And the packaging manages to be both luxurious and sustainable (the cushioning in the boxes is made from mushrooms!)
These are a truly special gift for any gender - especially those people (partners...dads...) who are hard to shop for!

Boutique fragrance hand-formulated in Madison, WI. Choose from two travel-friendly styles: a 10ml travel spray, which comes in a hand-stitched cactus leather sleeve and will last about 100 sprays, or a 30ml bottle in mycelium (mushrooms) compostable packaging.
Scent description:
Rich, golden, and impossibly smooth, Demerara is a fragrance steeped in indulgence, where warmth clings to the skin like sugar melting on sunlit wood.
Inspired by the slow-burning sweetness of raw cane and warm pastries pulled from the oven, this scent opens with a whisper of soft spice and candied citrus, giving way to a heart of creamy florals and glowing woods. There's a luxurious density to it, a velvet swirl of honeyed resins, toasted vanilla, and the soft fuzz of peach skin drifting on a warm breeze.
As it settles, the sweetness deepens: never sharp, never cloying, folding into the warmth of skin with soft musks, a hint of smoke, and the earthy pull of deep roots. Comforting yet sophisticated, Demerara lingers like the scent of baking sugar carried on late afternoon air.
Demerara is a gourmand with restrained sweetness made grown, a scent that wears like gold.

Our perfume cap is crafted from sustainably sourced European Ash wood, certified by the Forest Stewardship Council (FSC) for responsible forestry practices.
Our bottles are luxury glass made in France.
